GAZA
ON/OFF
Gaza has access to only 45% of it needs in electricity, meaning that people get to turn on their TV or plug their refigerator from 2 to 6 hours a day. The lack of electricity causes problems in the daily life of inhabitants, in sewage water treatment, as well as impacts businesses.
The Gaza strip is a small piece of land of 360km2 located between Egypt and Israel. Since 2007 and the rise of Hamas (under the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt), The Gaza Strip is under a blockade imposed by the Jewish state that applies on its land, sea and air as well as controls everything and people that enter and leave the strip.
They purchase 125 MW to Israel, another 40 MW to Egypt and they produce 60 MW with the Gaza power plant. Gaza economy is crushed by a very high demography rate, 50% unemployment and three wars in the past ten years.
